stories in the media

The SmackTalk charity was set up to honour the memory of 17-year-old Mac Holdsworth who took his own life on 24 October 2023 after being sexually extorted.
Mac had lost his mother 100 days before, but it was the trauma he suffered through the extortion that led to devastating consequences.
SmackTalk was created to start a movement to stop sextortion and help prevent suicide. SmackTalk presentations educate people to have better conversations – and to help save lives.

On 24 October 2023, 17-year-old Mac Holdsworth took his own life after being sexually extorted.
To raise awareness and funds to help prevent sexual extortion and suicide, we’ve launched Unplug24, calling on people to step away from social media for 24 hours on Mac’s anniversary.
Sign up today – and get family, friends and workmates to join you to take on the Unplug24 challenge.
Your support will enable us to provide much needed educational programs – and help save lives.
Even if you don’t think you are in a position to fundraise, we’d still love you to sign up and stay off socials during Unplug24 to show us your support.
