Start the conversation
Suicide was the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15 to 44 in 2024. Over seven million Australian adults are close to someone who has experienced suicide or a suicide attempt, which means most of us are already in range of a conversation that could matter.
SmackTalk does not provide counselling. What we do is make it normal to ask, and make it easier to know what to say next. The guidance below comes from the eSafety Commissioner and from the services listed here, not from us.

Talking to a young person
More than one in three young people affected by online sexual victimisation told nobody at all. Lead with “you are not in trouble”, and ask twice.
-
